Military Services
At Counseling Professionals, we have developed a special interest in working with individuals in the military and military families.
Robert Peterson has had positive results working with men who have developed Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, especially with individuals connected with Special Forces / Special Operations missions. Dealing not only with psychological results of military experience, but also with adjustment for families where the realities of a civilian and family living and of military duties are so vastly different.
Dr. Nadene Paterson is currently working with active duty military personnel dealing with the changes that take place as the result of their deployments.
Current Women's Group
Dr. Peterson is co-leading a group for women "Dealing with Relationships" on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30p.m. at our Seven Lakes Office.

"Singleness: A Guide to Understanding and Satisfaction" by Nadene Peterson, Barbara Sofie
Book Description:
Using examples from real life, this book moves from the negative emotions and the needs and conflicts of single people to finding yourself and growing from need to choice. It illustrates the myths of singleness and marriage. A major premise of the book is that feeling whole before you couple allows you to enjoy a relationship that is based on interdependence rather than dependence or co-dependence. It is easy to read and understand and exercises are provided that can help one make intelligent choices about living alone or together.

"The Role of Work in People's Lives: Applied Career Counseling and Vocational Psychology" by Nadene Peterson, Roberto Cortez Gonzalez
Book Description:
This new text recognizes that career counseling is not discrete from other types of counseling and it is therefore important for students of the helping professions to understand career counseling theories and applications. The authors present the topic of career counseling in a socio-historical context. The authors condense the theoretical coverage to avoid a theory-by-theory approach and include several contemporary theorists in addition to traditional sources.
